Their Story

Level Crossing Brewing Company was founded by Mark Medura, a former vice president for High West Distillery who started his career in the alcoholic beverage industry in 2008 as a founding employee of High West. The brewery concept began a decade earlier and became reality when Medura teamed up with longtime friends and former High West colleagues Katie Flanagan (Sales & Marketing Manager) and Head Brewer Chris Detrick. They spent a year remodeling a 1980s warehouse in South Salt Lake, chosen partly because the city repealed restrictive liquor laws in 2017 to attract breweries. The brewery opened to the public on March 30, 2019. The name comes from Medura's Pennsylvania roots - an old railroad expression referencing the level crossing near his family cottage where all family reunions and gatherings took place. The brewery expanded to include a second downtown location in the Post District that opened on June 15, 2023, at 550 S 300 West, Suite 100, featuring a larger wood-fired pizza oven, retail space, and outdoor plaza seating.

More of a restaurant vs a brewery. They had a lot of food options, lots of seating (both inside/out), and they had multiple fire pits on the patio!

The Ohhh, Honey pizza is PHENOMENAL. Honestly the best pizza I’ve ever had. The service is fantastic as well. Thank you JOSH! I’ll be back again asap!🤩 might become a regular @ this location.🤷🏻‍♀️
